Movies like “The Passion of the Christ”, “The Lord of the Rings”, and “The Chronicles of Narnia” have proven that films based on spiritual values have found a place with the movie audience.  This year’s TV Boot Camp will focus on dramatic films – how to write them, produce them, and find an audience.  Should you work with a major studio, or independently?   Produce short films or full-length features?   What about alternative distribution, budgets and production schedules, and finding the right talent?
We’ll also explore:

   •   Creativity and original ideas
   •   Writing for the screen
   •   How to approach Hollywood

  •   How TV commercial experience can play a role
   •   Funding for projects
   •   Production tips and techniques
   •   Producing short films

We will screen examples of some of the best film work done by Christians today, with special guests who are working professionals in the industry.

This is your chance to discover what it takes to make your film, and make it right!

Church Media Boot Camp
Documentaries - Storytelling - Faith Testimonies

Preserters:  Phil Bransom, Producer, Phil Bransom Productions, West Linn, OR; Dan Hyatt, President, RedeMedia, Portland, OR.

The majority of churches have the basic equipment: big screen, projection system, some form of video camera and a basic editing system.   The question is: what stories will be shown on those screens and what impact will they make on your congregation and visitors?

* Producing effective videos from concept to final screening

Whether producing a weekly television program, broadcasting over the internet, or utilizing video stories as part of your Sunday service, it’s still about the story.  Along with a compelling story, you need correct lighting, properly recorded audio, scene composition and some directing skills.   This workshop will take you from script to screen.

Maximizing church media resources to penetrate culture and transform lives.   Know your resources.  Question:  what does a very expensive HMI light and gobo have in common with an inexpensive Lowell light, blue gel and black cine wrap with holes punched in it???  One costs several hundred to rent for a day and the other a few dollars, but with proper technique, both can look the same.   Hands-on demonstrations on utilizing very basic equipment to maximize your productions.

24p Or Not 24p?  That is the question that I ask of thee…   With the Canon XL2, Panasonic DVX100 and others making 24p frame rate production a reality, more productions can closely approximate the look and feel of "cinematic" film.   It is the speed of choice whenever a "cinematic" look is desired.  Learn how to take your storytelling to the next level of “cinematic” excellence.
